The unit cook can provide the receipt either on the date of service in the unit or, and more commonly, when the food is served to the crew member. The receipt is signed by the cook or chef on the date and method of preparation (i.e., hot or cold) and served to crew members. At the completion of meal periods, the log is closed and sealed. The log indicates the number of food items consumed on that date.  If a meal is served on multiple days it will be noted in the record on the same day the food service was performed (i.e., meal ticket is printed on day 2). The receipt is required to be provided on all entries containing meal items or food items prepared at the unit cook or unit chef during the meal period.
